“Untitled” by Lidya Kennedy (10) "Imagine waking up to the sweet, summer air of the countryside. Birds chirp in trees, clouds float lazily across the sky, wind rustles the crops that span as far as the eye can see. As you go about your day, sunbeams warm your face. Now that's the life. At least the one I want to be living. As a child, I grew up in the countryside and I always imagined eventually moving back out there. This is what inspired my piece. While it only took me a short while to complete the painting, it was really fun to paint it. I think my favorite part is the clouds. To me, I think they really help to convey the peaceful, natural vibe that I was aiming for. I enjoyed painting this piece because I really liked the vibrant colors I used such as the sky blue, golden yellow, and even the deeper greens in the trees. Overall, the piece was fun to paint and inspires me to use watercolor more often as I typically just got for pencil and paper!"
