Hylander Sports Snapshots

All-State Football Coach: Columbia Heights High School Football Assistant Coach Pete Heryla was given the opportunity to coach at the All-State Football Game on December 7. He coached for the North team which was made up of students from high schools in the surrounding area such as Spring Lake Park and Totino-Grace. Heryla was awarded the Butch Nash Assistant Coach award from the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities in 2017 and has been loyally serving as an assistant coach for the Hylanders for 27 years. His fellow coaches and teammates are very proud of this accomplishment.

Boys’ Swim and Dive: Columbia Heights High School’s Boys’ Swim and Dive team won their first meet in five years. The meet was against Richfield, who was recently added to the section. The score came down to 81-85 Heights. The Hylanders clinched the win when it came down to the last relay. If Richfield had taken two of the top three spots, they would have won or tied with Heights. First place in the final relay went to the CHHS team made up of Aaron Severson (12), Lobsang Tenzin Dolkar (9), Zach Severson (10), Owen Miska (8).
