A look back on CHHS fall 2025 activities

Lead actor, Zoe Zuehlke
Theater

“Being a lead [in “Newsies”] is very exciting. I’m hopeful for new opportunities ahead like [a Hennepin Theater Trust] Spotlight recognition,” Zoe Zuehlke (12) said.”It’s a good community to be a part of, it’s fun and everyone should join at least one production of a musical [or] play!”

“I feel like the first concert went well,” Jaianna Bickerman (11) said. “Of course, there [are] some things to improve on throughout the school year, [but] to me, just performing on stage is a success.”

Link crew member, Loulou
Link Crew

“I like Link Crew because I get to meet a lot of people I probably wouldn’t otherwise,” Loulou Sadrant (12) said. “It’s really fun to volunteer at events with my friends too! Sometimes it can be difficult to connect with students, especially freshman and transfer students. They’re often pretty nervous and less likely to be social at the beginning of the year. I think Link Crew is a great opportunity to meet new students and make sure that they feel welcome at our high school. It’s very rewarding! If you’re interested in helping your community, Link Crew is a great way to do so.”

Interested in joining Link Crew? Talk to Ms. McCloskey or Ms. Kuehn.

Student council member, Walli Dabba
Student Council

“What’s fun about Student Council is we get to come up with events that raise school spirit,” Wali Dabba (10) said. “It gives those who see school in a routine way a chance to see it from a different, more engaging perspective! What’s challenging is finding slots in the calendar where people don’t have games or practices for their sports or activities. Our process is simple: we brainstorm ideas, write them on the board, narrow down what’s feasible and then take a vote.”

Interested in joining Student Council? Talk to Ms. DiSalvi or Ms. Trzaskowski.

“It feels amazing!” La’kiaah Kimp (12) said. “I know I’ve really connected with others and myself [during the] time I’ve spent in this club, and it’s something that every person [might] want to be a part of and experience themselves.”

Key Club

“One thing about Key Club that excites me is the meaningful connections that I’m able to form with members of the community through volunteering,” Danchau Le (12) said. “I joined my freshman year because I wanted to find a way to connect more to the community around me and make an impact in it as well! Join Key Club to have fun and fulfilling ways to participate in servicem The club has a bunch of volunteering opportunities that include school service projects, helping at city events and working with various nonprofit organizations!”

Women Student Union Leader, Jennifer Switalla
Women’s Student Union (WSU)

“I was approached by a group of young women who had an idea for a safe space for the women of the school,” science teacher and WSU adviser Ms. Jennifer Switalla said. “With the state of the world, a space to be comfortable in your own skin with like-minded people and a lack of judgment is appreciated, so I am happy [for my classroom] to be the place for that. I think that the people running this club are the best part! They are very organized, compassionate and welcoming. They are willing to take suggestions to create an inclusive and fun experience for everyone. I think the best part is that you can just show up, get a snack, make a craft or write a letter or meet someone new and just have a good time.”

This opportunity motivates me to want to achieve more and help out in my community.”
