Another season of extracurriculars recapped, in the books
“[The] Mock Trial season went well,” Robsen Kinati (10) said. “I met new people, got to work with amazing coaches, and we even went to perform at a tournament at Apple Valley High School. Although it was crazy due to our in-person trials being canceled, [others] being online, [and] one where the other team forfeited, it was a really fun season and I look forward to next year.”
“There was this one time my teammate, Justin, was doing a physics question I didn’t know,” Ava Sinchi (11) said. “Once the director finished [talking], Justin looked at us and told us he had no idea what she said. That [hilarious] moment made the tournament so much better.”
“This year was an amazing experience for our team,” Wali Dibba (10) said. “The lowest point was in December when someone accidentally fell on our robot and totally trashed the scoring system. We spent all of January rebuilding and simplifying the design, and honestly, the final version ended up being way better than the original. That whole process of refining our work was the highlight of my year, [and] after going through three different versions of the robot, seeing it score during a match was the best feeling ever. Now, I’m really looking forward to seeing this team grow and succeed. It’s about showing up, doing what I love and finding out exactly what we’re capable of when we set a higher bar!”
“The season was great,” Danchau Le (12) said. “Competing against other schools in trivia is always fun to do, especially with friends! Although it was a smaller group this year, the practices were always enjoyable.”
“I absolutely loved Knowledge Bowl,” Yumna Ali (12) said. “The meets were so exciting and competitive, and the practices were so fun! You should join Knowledge Bowl because it’s just like random trivia. You might think you need to be super smart and know everything, but the topics and questions are so broad that you might know or can guess the answers. Overall, you can have a great time with your friends, and you learn something new and interesting every time you play!”
“I liked being able to be on stage again,” Erick Banos (10) said. “Even though it was way more independent, everyone put something important into it to have the best version we could. We had lots of setbacks due to the events within our community, [but] we still put our dedication into it.”
“Drumline is amazing,” Noah Saldaña Haworth (9) said. “It is super open to all levels of instrument playing, [and] you don’t need to be a pro-percussionist! There [are] lots of different instruments you can play in drumline, such as tenors, snare drum, bass drum and more! Ms. DiSalvi does a great job at leading it, and I’m so glad I joined.”
“This was the team’s highest scoring team since I joined,” Simon Carter (11) said. “Ms. Kuehn was a very good coach and made sure we understood the topic well.”
“My most memorable part of band was getting selected to be a part of Minnestota’s All-State Concert Band,” Shane Whitley (12) said. “Working and performing with musicians across the state was such an incredible honor.”
“Senior Club is a really great opportunity for any seniors who want to get to know their peers before we all graduate,” Loulou Sadrant (12) said. “And we hope to plan some fun events before school ends!”
