Have you ever craved takeout but didn’t want to pay $30—plus that dreaded delivery fee? If the answer is yes, this might be your solution: a good dupe recipe. It’s a copycat recipe that tastes the same or close to the original meal for a cheaper price or fewer ingredients.
One treat I crave has been all over my For You Page (FYP) on social media: Crumbl Cookies. I’ve seen them everywhere, but I don’t want to pay a lot of money—and I assume you don’t either. So, here’s a dupe recipe that tastes (almost) like the original.
First, gather your ingredients:
- 3 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups of unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups of granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ⅔ cup of heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: rainbow sprinkles
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Using a stand mixer, cream the butter and the sugar until the mixture has a fluffy texture.
- Add the eggs, corn syrup and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Mix until your cookie dough forms.
- Divide your dough into 12 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten slightly (shape them like a hockey puck).
- Bake in the oven for 15-17 minutes. Optional: While cookies are baking, you can make frosting!
- Put heavy cream in the microwave for 1 ½ minutes, until it starts to boil.
- Remove the bowl from the microwave and add chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
- After you take the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for 10 minutes. Then, if you made frosting, spread it on top.
- Serve while warm and enjoy!
This is an amazing (not to mention amazingly easy) recipe that you can make any time—without that hefty delivery fee. Plus you feel productive rather than lazy! But if that’s still too much work, there’s an even easier way to make these cookies.
All you need is the following:
- One box of brownie mix
- ¼ cup of flour
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup of oil
Mix all of the above ingredients together and follow the same baking steps as above. If you want to add frosting, repeat the earlier frosting instructions.
As you can see, there are many ways to bake this and many other recipes to satiate your sweet tooth. It’s always worth finding and trying out a good dupe recipe. So next time that cookie craving hits, skip the app, save your cash and whip up a batch right at home. Whether you go all out with the full recipe or keep it simple with the brownie mix hack, you’re getting that rich, gooey Crumbl-style treat without the premium price tag. It’s sweet satisfaction on your terms—and honestly, nothing tastes better than that. Happy baking!
