Aren’t these creatures just the cutest? Make sure to try these recipes so you can have your own!

Bored of watching leaves fall? Don’t know what to do on a lonely October afternoon? Well, worry no longer because these two perfect recipes will get you busy creating tasty, not-so-spooky (but rather cute) Halloween treats to share (or you can just devour them all alone)!

And especially during this unusually wet month here in Minnesota, you and the weather may both know it’s a bake-all-day and stay-at-home type of vibe. As the preparation to begin baking starts, the kitchen begins being filled with soothing rain sounds. Who doesn’t love baking and rainy days? I highly recommend following these recipes if it gets like that again before October 31, as it’s just the perfect combination!

Before beginning, make sure your space and hands are clean, and then follow these steps:

Boo-tiful Killer Ghost Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • Freshly washed strawberries
  • 3 cups of white chocolate melts
  • ½ a cup of milk or dark chocolate melts
  • Edible red glitter
  • Tall microwave-safe cup
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Spoon
  • Pan and parchment paper

Steps:

  1. Prepare a pan with a piece of parchment paper to place your chocolate and strawberries.
  2. Wash your strawberries. Washing them with salt water is recommended to help remove dirt best.
  3. Dry your strawberries until you are sure they are completely dry.
  4. Poke the lollipop sticks into the strawberries at the base for them to be ready to be dipped in chocolate.
  5. Place your 3 cups of white chocolate melts in a tall microwave-safe cup — make sure it’s tall as this will make it way easier to coat the strawberries in chocolate.
  6. Follow the instructions on how to melt your chocolate. In this case, I put the chocolate in defrosting mode for one minute, took it out, stirred and put it in the microwave again for an additional 30 seconds. I continued to stir it and heat for 30 seconds until it was the right watery consistency.
  7. Grab your spoon and create a shape on the parchment paper that looks like the bottom of a ghost’s body with some of the white chocolate.
  8. Dip your strawberries in the white chocolate and place them right away on top of the ghost shapes you made using the spoon.
  9. Place your strawberries in the fridge for about 15 minutes or until the chocolate is completely dry.
  10. Take your strawberries out of the fridge and set aside.
  11. Place your ½ a cup milk or dark chocolate melts in the microwave, again following the instructions on the package.
  12. Dip a popsicle stick in the black chocolate and use it like a paintbrush to give your creations a spooky face — big round eyes and a long mouth!
  13. For the final and cutest touch, grab your red edible glitter and give these ghosts some blush…or is this blood?

And ta-da! You have just created some boo-tiful killer ghost strawberries!

Yummy-Mummy Marshmallows

Ingredients:

  • Jumbo marshmallows
  • Mini marshmallows
  • 3 ½  cups of white chocolate melts
  • 1 cup of milk or dark chocolate melts
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Kitchen scissors
  • Pan and parchment paper

Steps:

  1. Prepare a pan with parchment paper on top to place the chocolate-covered mummies.
  2. Grab one of the jumbo marshmallows and cut it vertically in half using scissors.
  3. Melt one cup of white chocolate melts, following the instructions on the package.
  4. Dip the tip of your lollipop stick in the melted chocolate.
  5. Begin putting your two marshmallow pieces through the stick, creating a figure 8-like shape.
  6. Use four mini marshmallows plus dabs of melted chocolate to create and attach hands and feet.
  7. Place the marshmallows in the fridge for five minutes or until the chocolate is completely dry and adequately securing the arms and legs.
  8. Melt two cups of white chocolate melts in a tall cup.
  9. Dip your mummies in the white chocolate and leave in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
  10. Melt half a cup of milk or dark chocolate melts and half a cup white chocolate melts separately.
  11. Using the milk or dark chocolate and a lollipop stick, give your mummy some big round eyes, and add a little sparkle to them with a dot of white chocolate using a different lollipop stick or the opposite side of the one you just used for the milk or dark chocolate.
  12. Finally, drizzle some more melted white chocolate to create the bandages on the mummies’ bodies!

And voila — you just made your own cute sugary mummies, and they will taste just as good as they look!

With these tasty creatures now by your side, you will have forgotten about how bored and lonely you were before! And they’re going to make sure to keep you company and satisfy those sweet cravings in the safety of your cozy and warm home.
