K-dramas, or hour-long dramatic TV series from South Korea, have grown in popularity stateside partially due to the spread of Korean culture to almost everywhere in the Western world, making them more accessible for K-drama fans through streaming websites like Netflix. The past year has seen a diverse and high-quality, and while many of these highs could be credited to the success of dreamy and tropey high-interest plots, 2022 was also the year when characters and their lives had become real on screen.
