Players and coaches of the WNBA & NBA

Players and coaches in the WNBA and NBA led a general strike during the 2020 playoffs. After the attempted murder of Jacob Blake by the Kenosha police, the Milwaukee Bucks did not enter their game against the Orlando Magic in August. After this, every other team followed in their footsteps and did not play their scheduled games. The reasoning for this was they did not want their games to take away from the protests going on in the country against police brutality of African Americans. When the games came back, players continued to bring awareness to police brutality and racial justice by wearing Black Lives Matter apparel, kneeling during the national anthem, and painting “Black Lives Matter” on the court.
