What is your favorite book?

It’s hard to name just one, but it would have to be between John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men”, Herman Hesse’s “Siddhartha”, or “Sula” or “The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison.

What led you to read that book?

The first two were actually some of the first novels we read when I was in high school, and they have stuck with me because of the lasting messages. I read “Sula” in college and “The Bluest Eye” on my own because Morrison is a master writer and makes you think about life differently.

Why is it your favorite book?

Same as above.

What is your favorite genre?

Realistic fiction

As a teacher, how easy/difficult is it to find time to read?

I make time to read every day for at least 30 minutes. It’s my way to decompress.

Why do you think it is important to read outside the classroom?

Reading is supposed to be an immersive experience where you can forget about regular life and be someone else for a moment. Getting lost in a book is one of the greatest experiences you can have.
